Explore, Grow & Thrive
Hi! I'm Ineke. My practice, Ineke Guadagnin Counselling & Therapy, provides psychotherapy services for children, couples, families, and individuals through face to face, in-office sessions, and online sessions through doxy.me, an internet Telehealth provider.
Please contact me to discuss your therapy needs.
I am a Psychotherapist with specialized training in Play Therapy and expressive therapy techniques. My experience and education enable me to offer effective, individualized care using an approach suited to your needs. I am skilled at strength-based therapy, supporting individuals with mental health diagnosis, relational issues, or a traumatic past. I work with all ages from children to seniors and provide a neutral ground to individuals, families, and couples. I am a trained Play Therapist and bring the expressive arts into my sessions as a means to explore the self.
My focus is to help you explore, grow, and thrive as you become aware of your inner strengths. I achieve this by providing a safe space, listening to your concerns, and customizing your treatment plan.
I promise to be there for you every step of your journey. My goal is to work collaboratively with you to help you grow from your struggles and move forward to where you want to be in your life.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable feelings we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counselling and treatment, I partner with you to help you gain a new perspective on your emotions and combine your inner strength with some helpful tools to create greater wellness in your life. I will use my knowledge of mindfulness practices, attachment theory, and the latest research on the brain to remind you that change is possible!
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. I work with you using current research about the brain and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
Relationship counselling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held with both partners and are a supportive place to discuss issues, discover dynamics, and explore solutions to improve your relationship.
I am a trained Play Therapist. Play is critical to healthy child development. Play provides a child with the opportunity to learn and practice essential life skills that are necessary for life success including problem solving, conflict-resolution, leadership, social skills and emotional regulation. Play is a child’s natural way of learning about the world and expressing themselves.
Children can often find it hard to talk about what is going on inside of them or may not be consciously aware. Play therapy allows a child to bypass defensiveness by using play to communicate their internal world and to work through difficult issues in a safe environment created by a skilled play therapist.
Play therapy is often the most effective way to assist a child in understanding and expressing their feelings, developing problem-solving skills, reducing problem behaviour, overcoming trauma or abuse, and increasing self-confidence and self-esteem. Play therapy is a theoretically-based and evidence-based therapeutic child intervention. It provides a corrective emotional experience necessary for healing and healthy child development.
Children’s issues do not occur in isolation, they occur within the context of their environments, mostly home and school. Family relationships and interactions often impact the presence and maintenance of child issues. As such, to best understand a child and their presenting issues and thus how to help them, it is important to understand the child in context of the family. Often engaging family members in a child’s therapeutic process will lead to much faster resolution of presenting issues and enhancement of the family.
Parent-child attachment is critical to a child’s healthy development. Personality characteristics critical to life success are developed through healthy attachment. Emotional regulation, executive functioning, critical thinking are all dependent on healthy attachment. Often the behavioural issues that children present are most effectively resolved by involving parents in a child’s therapeutic process and strengthening the parent-child attachment.
In supporting a child, I work with the family, helping the parent make a connection with their child through therapy.
